Eros

These drypoints are small, about 6 x 8 cm. They are the beginning of a new suite of print, with Eros as the key role.

Coming home

The elephant is coming home. At last. The girl is welcoming the big animal. The cat and the dog are also greeting the elephant. That is all I know about this picture. Or, maybe I know more. But I have chosen to tell you only this. Maybe you have another story to tell about the elephant?

I really enjoy my diamond drypoint working on the surface of the copper. Diamonds are marvelous tools for drawing on copper and plexiglas. The copper feels like soft butter under my hands. I like this feeling. The lines of the drypoint is almost hairy. Different from the sharp etched line.

These prints are a kind of window back to childhood. Was it an elk in the forest or a bent tree? Is the strange woman dangerous or funny? Are the forest in the night filled with other things than in daytime? The night time is a time for fantasy. But also fear of darkness.  As an artist, I am allowed to play at work. I do it often. Are you able to play at work or other places? Do it. It makes wonders.

Angel

Ruth Roland © BONOA floating world. Two old trees. Grass. The small world is floating in the air. A visit from an angel. The copperplate is almost too huge for my printing press, 70 x 80 cm. I love to work with the drypoint, you work directly into the plate with a needle. This is mostly done with a diamond.  This plate is meant for changing. The title «The world is changing» helps me to rembember the change. Next step is to remove something. And add something else. It is like working on a story.
